I had a great stay here. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful—to the point that they actually learned guests’ names and greeted us personally when we passed by, which made the experience feel genuinely welcoming. The rooms were decent and comfortable, and the in-room kitchens were a huge bonus, especially for an extended stay since it made saving money by cooking easy. Even though the hotel is downtown, it was surprisingly quiet and within walking distance of so many great local spots. I would absolutely stay here again the next time I’m in Durham.

I had a wonderful stay! From the moment I checked in to check out, the staff was kind and attentive! The room was comfortable! The building is full of history and the art in the galleries are beautiful and emotionally thought provoking! It came out that my birthday was during my stay and I was sent a sweet little treat with a hand written card from the staff! That was so special for me!!! I'll stay here again, for sure! A special shout out to: Stephanie, Haley, Kiera, Tassia, Sara, Morgan, Paul. The front desk young man who checked me in February 6th at 4pm. Sorry I can't remember your name but you deserve recognition!!! Chef David and door men Theas and Stan. You all made my stay very memorable!!!!

The check in is on the second floor. Sort of strange. The check in area has some artwork of people in all sorts of positions. It was unusual to see this amount of the same kind of artwork. We were given a totally blank white card as our key card. I assume it was a security measure. The room was nice. The black timed shower was big enough for 3 people. They citrasted the swanky design with a cute rubber duck. The glass walls were thick and styrdy and the entire bathroom was big and comfortable. In the weekend street parking is free so we did street parking on Sat but paid $35 for valet on Friday. There is a restaurant in the first floor. Again swanky with huge artwork in the wall. The people who work there seem to be artsy as well

Everything from our room, the customer service, the food and drinks, it was all outstanding. We were blown away that our requests were listened to. Everyone was so helpful, especially the hostess in the restaurant! We will definitely be back!

Fantastic location. Friendly staff throughout. Neat story. And very neat art installations. The rooms were much more drab and uncomfortable than expected, with not much decor, gray walls, hard pillows, lots of visible wires, overly-cool lighting, strange furniture choices (like using a desk as a TV entertainment center), and wear-and-tear. I'd give the rooms a 3, but the rest of the hotel pretty much a 5. We stayed in the terrace suite. The advertised soaking tubs aren't available in December through March, and there wasn't one on our terrace. I'm not complaining because we got a great view and a good rate. I agree with the security concerns in other reviews that you can go to about any floor without using a key card.

I made the reservation for my regional sales meeting, initially only needing rooms for the event. I completed an RFP through the main website and was promptly assisted by Emily and Alyssa who were fantastic, assisting through the holiday period. I had multiple changes to attendees which was met with patience and professionalism. To make things even better, I requested event space for the 25 team members which was accommodated quickly and everything taken care of swiftly. The following day we utilized Gallery 5 with the assistance of Ashley who was exceptional, willing to go above and beyond to meet our needs. Finally, I want to think the lady who was working the front desk the night of our stay. I had forgot my phone charger, and she lent me her personal one - this was the truest reflection of the team you have there!! Please ensure these (4) employees know how much we appreciated their assistance. Additionally, it was an extremely generous touch to place a fruit platter in my room on arrival. Only thing I would "critique" is the technology in the room. The docking station was broken which is what caused me to ask for the charger. And I personally like a smart TV in my hotel rooms. Neither will keep me from recommending the hotel, just an opinion. I made the reservation for my regional sales meeting, initially only needing rooms for the event. We had a good stay once again, as we have stayed many times in the past, but I can it is noticeable this time the hotel is in need of a facelift and a makeover, in the rooms especially. Our room had a very old TV that was extremely dim, the remote barely worked, and only having cable tv is a bit dated (no streaming apps or ability to cast to tv)s There was also a missing window shade, the walls and floors were pretty beat up, and it wasn’t the cleanest. We love the hotel and have had many great stays, but it is time for some updates at this price point.

Wonderful hotel and museum! The staff was excellent from greeting us at the door, and all the way through check-in and departure. There is so much history in this building and city, and they have showcased fabulous artwork for an even better hotel experience! Than you 21c for a great stay, and I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Durham!
